God of war 4 system requirements

I know there are no perfect games, but damn, the new GoW for me came as close to this mark as possible. The last time such emotions aroused in me was probably the third Witcher. When I played out a battle with a stranger at the end of the first big story mission (those who played will understand) - it was just pure delight, I sat with a smile from ear to ear, and the sensations were as if I had just rolled off a roller coaster.
I have a good PC and I for a long time I didn’t dare buy a PS4, although the list of games I wanted to play grew and grew (Bloodborn, Uncharted, Last of us, HZD, even Kojima’s upcoming Death Stranding). GoW was the last straw for me, I bought the console and don’t regret anything. The game is amazing and deserves all the praise it is getting from critics and players. 10/10 does not mean perfect, but it does mean that minor flaws simply dissolve against the background of its advantages.

The game was so addictive that it was difficult to put it down. This hasn't happened in a long time. Usually I can play for a couple of hours and then quit for an indefinite period of time... But not this time.

The lovingly crafted world is a joy to explore. Scandinavian mythology, which I love very much, was presented perfectly, and the “variations on a theme” pleased me. The locations are beautiful and well-developed, with the exception of a couple, more on that below. The same goes for the production and cut scenes, which were breathtaking. The story itself is fascinating and it’s simply interesting to watch the relationship between Kratos and his son.

The gameplay is vigorous: fights, exploration, riddles - all this is enjoyable and does not get boring until the very end.

The combat is complex and varied, weapons and strikes feel good. Despite the fact that Kratos runs around with one ax for more than half the game, combining his attacks with throws, a shield and fists is a pleasure!

Among the shortcomings, I will note two main points:
Firstly, I missed the epic boss fights and, in fact, the variety of the bosses themselves. I hope this gets better in the sequel.
Secondly, a couple of locations, let’s say, are much inferior in volume and content to the main one - Midgard and the two plot ones. I won’t spoil it, but you’ll see for yourself.

Overall, this is the game of the year for me at the moment. I had a damn good time, which is what I wish for everyone!

An ax handle in a strong calloused palm, a bristling beard and a scorching icy gaze from under frowning eyelids. Kratos has changed, he has become different. And that’s exactly how I fucking like him. "God of War" has turned from a slasher film, of which there are many, into a full-fledged game with an interesting plot. Good graphics, music, a well-developed world inspired by Scandinavian mythology and crazy playability are only one side of the coin. The main thing is the story of father and son, the delicate connection of their complex relationships. The script is written in an adult way and for adults. Yes, the enemies here are not very diverse and the camera sometimes dances somersaults around us, but we will forgive the creators for this, because Kratos and Atreus are not dumb extras, but living characters from the game we already love and its future sequels.

I've been playing for 16 years now, so many games have become boring, in particular many action rpgs. The problem with this genre is that the cover changes constantly, but the mechanics, techniques, etc. stand still. Alas, GoW was no exception. This is an amazing game, with excellent graphics, colorful characters, an excellent combat system and interesting leveling. But, like other games in this genre, it, alas, did not bring anything new with it. That's why I give it 7.5. I advise everyone to play it, as it is an excellent example of how games should be made according to a generally accepted template.

The best thing to come out this year so far.
It is difficult to compare this game with anything specific, because it successfully combines many mechanics from different games.

Sony santa monica studio competently approached the creation game world, abandoning the idea of a huge open card. Here the world is not linear, and at any moment in the game you can return to any point (except for cases when the impossibility of returning is due to the plot). The locations are really interesting to study, fortunately the developers tried to stuff the levels with all sorts of useful and interesting loot.

The combat in the game has become more difficult. Now you won’t be able to go through the whole game by learning one combination; each enemy has their own vulnerabilities and strengths, and you have to use the entire arsenal of skills available to Kratos and his son.

Lore is also excellent; studying it in this game will be interesting even for those who are very familiar with Scandinavian mythology. The plot itself is captivating and holds you until the very end. Revealing characters and unexpected plot twists contribute to this.

For me personally, the game had only one drawback - there weren’t enough unique story bosses.

In general, I sincerely sympathize with the spiteful critics who give this game low ratings, because they will never get to play this masterpiece.

God of War, often referred to as "God of War 4" is an American 3rd person action-adventure game, the eighth installment in the series. God of War , a sequel to GodofWarIII(2010). The game will be a soft reboot of the series into the world of Norse mythology, whereas all past games were based on Greek mythology. Series protagonist Kratos will remain the main character, but now he will have a son named Atreus. Kratos will be a teacher and protector for his son and will have to curb the rage that has overcome him for many years.

Gameplay

The gameplay will be dramatically different from past games as it will be remade from the ground up. Although in the last part, Ascension(2013), multiplayer was introduced, the new part will be purely single-player. The game will include RPG-like elements, such as archery knowledge points and a limited-time combat ability called Spartan Fury. This ability will be a new variation of the “fury” from previous games. The player will be able to find resources for crafting. Unlike previous games, which had a fixed, cinematic 3rd person camera (with the exception of the 2D side-scroller Betrayal from 2007), the new game will feature a free camera with a 3rd person over-the-shoulder view.

An important change will be the absence of Kratos' signature dual blades, as he lost them at the end of the 2010 game. Instead, there will be a magical ax that can be charged with elemental abilities and thrown at enemies. In the trailers from E3 2016 and 2017, it was shown that the ax can be shrouded in ice, thrown at an enemy, and magically returned to one’s hands. Kratos will be able to charge his ax and unleash a blast of energy that will damage nearby enemies. Game director Cory Barlog said that the ax has a deep history and connection to the characters; he is connected with the hero's son and with the son's mother. Another new weapon will be the shield. When not in use, the shield rolls up onto Kratos' left forearm, appearing like armor. When the shield is used, it has offensive and defensive functions. Kratos can use hand-to-hand combat, a feature introduced in Ascension.

Although the player will control Kratos throughout the game, there will be times when the player will passively control Atreus. There is one button dedicated to controlling Atreus, its effect depends on the context. Barlog says Atreus " similar to magic, an additional combat resource, the player will teach and train it" Atreus will be able to shoot lightning arrows from his bow in the direction the player is facing. As the game progresses, Atreus will assist with combat, traversing, exploration, and puzzle solving. When colliding with big amount enemies, he will be free to act to distract weak enemies while Kratos fights stronger enemies.

The developers claim that the new game will be as accessible as the previous parts. Barlog confirmed that the game will be open, but without an open world, and the QTEs will not be the same as in past games. The game will not include a moral system or a branching story; all players will have the same story experience. The developers have confirmed that one of the most controversial mini-games from previous installments will not be returning.

Setting

While the first 7 games were loosely based on Greek mythology, the new installment moved towards Norse mythology. Barlog explained the transition: " It's like a change of eras. We move and start from scratch and keep moving" Before choosing Scandinavian mythology, another famous mythology was considered - Egyptian. Barlog said that half the team was for Egypt, but since " it is much closer to civilization: less isolated, less barren", it was decided to use Norse mythology as the team wanted to keep the focus on Kratos. The team didn't want too many distractions from the central theme of a stranger in a strange land. Explaining why Kratos is now in the Norse world, Barlog said that the belief systems of different cultures coexisted but were separated geographically; with this he hinted that Kratos went from Greece to Norway (Scandinavia) after completing GodofWarIII. Barlog said the game predates the Vikings, depicting a time when gods walked the Earth. During the game you will be able to visit 9 worlds from Scandinavian mythology.

Plot

Many years have passed since Kratos took revenge on the Olympian gods. Having survived the final confrontation with his father Zeus, Kratos now lives with his young son Atreus in the world of the Norse gods. It is a wild land inhabited by many ferocious monsters and warriors. To teach his son to survive in such conditions, Kratos must curb the rage that has tormented him for many years and learn a new role as a father and teacher. Kratos must also fight the northern gods as they take precautions against him, knowing his role in the destruction of Olympus. Atreus learns more about the vague and complicated fate of his father, and tries to either imitate him or be an independent person.

Development

At the first annual PlayStation Experience in December 2014, Santa Monica Studios creative director Cory Barlog confirmed that a new God of War is in very good shape. early stage development. In April 2016, Polygon reported leaked concept art for the new game. In the images, Kratos was in the world of Scandinavian mythology. This concept was invented by series creator David Jaffe, taking into account that Kratos destroyed the Greek gods. At E3 2016, the next part was officially announced, accompanying the announcement with a demonstration of gameplay and confirming that the mentioned concept drawing was real. In the demo, a bearded Kratos taught his son to hunt. The two of them fought a mythological troll. At E3, it was revealed that Barlog had returned to his old role as game director. Barlog has been a major contributor to the series since the first game in 2005, his most important role being in the creation GodofWarII(2007), for which he was director. The new game became his 5th project in the series. Barlog said the game's title didn't specifically include numbers or a subtitle because it's a continuation of the series with a reimagining of everything.

Participated in the creation of a new game most of the team that worked on the very first part. Speaking about the gameplay camera change, Barlog said: “ We wanted a much more intimate experience, much closer and more controlled by the player; so the camera is actually a mechanic that we lean everything towards in the game" The game did not include loading screens or blackouts. The frame rate will be 30 per second, the number of enemies will be increased to 100 simultaneously on the screen (in GodofWarIII And Ascension could only reach 50). Unlike past games, Santa Monica will not make a demo specifically for public release. Barlog explained that development of the demo would delay the game's release by a couple of months; He didn't say whether a demo would be available from E3 2016, and confirmed that the game is being made for the standard PlayStation 4, but will benefit from the power advantages of the PlayStation 4 Pro. God of War was not present at the PlayStation Experience in early December 2016; Barlog promised that the team would show the game when something really cool was ready. In late December 2016, Barlog confirmed that the game was playable from start to finish.

At E3 2017, a new trailer was shown with gameplay, cinematic scenes and characters. In it, Kratos uses a shield that works both defensively and offensively. At one point, Kratos finds a Greek vase with an image of himself armed with the famous blades. An unnamed woman warns Kratos about the Norse gods, who know that he destroyed the Greek gods. At the end of the trailer, Kratos and Atreus encounter the World Serpent. Atreus translates her words: The snake wants to help them.

Character Creation

There was talk early on about a new protagonist, but they decided to keep Kratos. Barlog said: " Like Mario in gamesNintendo, so Kratos is connected to the seriesGod of War " Commenting on the new changes, Barlog said: " I knew I didn't want to simply reboot the franchise, starting with a retelling of the origin story. I wanted to reimagine the gameplay, give the player a fresh perspective, a new tactile experience, and allow the player to delve deeper into Kratos' emotional journey to explore the thrilling drama. A drama in which an immortal demigod decides to change».

Barlog explained that Kratos must change his cycle of violence and learn to control his rage. He said that Kratos made many bad decisions that led to the destruction of Olympus. Now it becomes interesting what will happen if Kratos makes a good decision. Barlog was inspired to change the character of Kratos by the birth of his own son. Also influenced by the canceled television series " star Wars " The connection between Kratos and Atreus is at the heart of the game; according to Barlog, " a game about how Kratos teaches his son to be a god, and his son teaches Kratos to become human again».

Soundtrack

Bear McCreery, better known for his work on television shows, for example, Battlestar Galactica And The Walking Dead, became the series composer. He wrote completely new themes for the game. McCreary said he was called to Santa Monica Studio in November 2014 to discuss " secret project" McCreery has already collaborated with these producers on a shooter SOCOM 4 US Navy SEALs. The ideas of folk music, mythology, Nordic musical instruments, vocal parts and classical music; McCreery correctly assumed that the subject of discussion was a new God of War. Together with Barlog, he discussed the vision for the game's narrative. McCreary's favorite game in the series was GodofWarII, of which Barlog was director.

McCreery's first focus was on composing the main theme - which he called "Kratos' Theme". He spent several months working with Barlog, Scaturro, Leary, Sony music director Chuck Dowd and the rest of the team to create new topic. McCreary called Kratos' theme " probably one of my most structurally pleasant and catchy melodies" The main theme features low orchestral instruments, an Icelandic choir, deep male vocals, powerful female vocals (especially the Faroese singer Eivø r Pá lsdó ttir), folk percussion, Scandinavian string instruments like nyckelharpa and hardy-gardy. At E3 2016, as part of the game's presentation, McCreary, at Sony's request, performed the soundtrack with a live orchestra.

Reception

At E3 2016, impressions of God of War were positive. Marty Silva at IGN said that while the original trilogy was the most influential trio of games in the last 15 years, he could never feel like he belonged in the series, mainly because of Kratos. The new development of Kratos' character caused Silva to change his view of the series. GameSpot's Peter Brown noted that the camera change was " the smart move I was hoping for; this is very impressive».

In 2016, the game received the " Special praise for graphics" at the Game Critics Awards, was nominated for " Best onE3 », « Best gamePlayStation 4 », « Best Action" (all from IGN), " Most anticipated game"(Game Awards 2016).
