Galvanized bunker feeder. Drawings, detailed instructions. Making feeders for rabbits with your own hands. Rabbits scoop out food from a bunker feeder.

Before breeding eared pets, beginning rabbit breeders should first take care of cages and feeders. What feeders exist for rabbits that meet the requirements for maximum convenience when animals absorb food and minimal out-of-pocket costs?

Main types of feeders

Feeders themselves are a special device that helps reduce the time and save the energy necessary to properly care for and regulate the diet of animals. In addition, properly installed feeders will keep the cage clean for as long as possible.

There is a huge variety of feeders for rabbits, which are divided into the following main types:

Can be varied:

  • automatic;
  • vacuum;
  • nipple;
  • cups (any bowls, cups, trays that you don’t mind);
  • from bottles (most often used in rabbit breeding).

What are feeders made of?

To make feeders for feeding your pets, it is recommended to use the following materials:

  • thin tin;
  • metallic profile;
  • wood (this can be a thin board or a sheet of plywood);
  • plastic;
  • plexiglass;
  • straight slate.

Thin wire or rod is most often used as auxiliary materials.

If during installation of the feeder sharp edges or nicks were formed, then they must be smoothed and sanded to avoid cuts to the rabbit skins.

Rules for constructing a bunker feeder

Before you start building feeders for rabbits at home, you must initially compare the dimensions of the cage and the drawings of the future feeder. If the choice is to make a bunker-type feeder, then it is recommended to consider the most profitable and simple options for its construction.

The fastest and least expensive option for making a bunker feeder would be to construct it from a 3-liter tin can.

How to make a feeder for rabbits, step by step instructions:

  1. Initially, it is recommended to draw a line across the can at a height of 1.5-2.5 cm from the bottom of the can.
  2. Then cut half of the can along to the line, without going beyond it.
  3. After this, you need to drill a large number of holes in the bottom using a drill.
  4. From the cut half of the jar you need to make a flat sheet (similar to a wall) and attach it to the feeder.
  5. The finished bunker feeder should be screwed to the door of the rabbit cage ().

Although such a feeder does not look very aesthetically pleasing, it is very easy to make, economical (since you can build it from a jar that contained, for example, tomato paste) and easy to use.

Rabbit breeders who have the skills to work with galvanized sheets will be able to build a zinc bunker feeder without much effort. Even those with no experience in tin work, rabbit breeders will be able to make such equipment for their pets, subject to the exact instructions and diagrams for its manufacture.

Instructions for making a galvanized iron bunker feeder

The first thing to do is cut out all the necessary parts according to the diagram. Then, using pliers, bend the tin along the dotted lines indicated in the diagram.

To make it easier to bend the sheet metal, it is recommended to make small cuts half the thickness of the galvanized sheet using a knife and ruler.

After making all the parts according to the diagram, you can begin assembling the feeder. Sharp corners and edges should be smoothed or sanded.

The finished product will look like the picture.

Before you start manufacturing bunker feeders for rabbits according to the drawings, you should take into account the following recommendations:

  • all components of cage arrangement, including feeders, should be as convenient as possible in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene;
  • if the feeder is made of thin materials that can be chewed by rabbits, then it is necessary to cover the edges of the feeder with tin for its longest service life;
  • It is recommended to arrange the feeders so that the food is contaminated as little as possible (drill holes in the bottom of the feeder, or line the bottom with a fine grid);
  • the volume of feeders must be no less than the daily feeding rate for rabbits, otherwise the animals will climb into them and mess up;
  • Attachments of feeders to cages should be as strong as possible to prevent them from overturning.

A creative approach to breeding eared pets will make rabbit breeding a very interesting activity. If you build cages and feeders for rabbits with your own hands from scrap materials, you can save an impressive amount before starting a rabbit breeding business.

So, you have come to the conclusion that you want to build a feeder for eared animals at home. Then you need to understand a few simple requirements that the design must meet.

  1. It should be roomy enough so that you don’t have to add food very often.
  2. Easy to operate and clean.
  3. In terms of cost, it should be cheaper than purchased, because why bother if it will be cheaper to buy.
  4. The surface of the structure should not contain any sharp protrusions or corners that could injure the animal.
  5. The animal should easily get its food without shaking or scattering it.
  6. It is not advisable for the rabbit to get its feet into the structure and get the food dirty.
  7. If more than one rabbit will eat, then the dimensions of the structure should be such that everyone can fit in at the same time.

How to build?

It is not difficult to build a feeder yourself. The main thing is to decide in advance on the material and design features. Then all that’s left to do is prepare the tools and means and bring the idea to life. But what type will be the most optimal?

Let’s say right away that an automatic bunker feeder is the best option for any type of keeping. But it is only suitable for grain and granulated feed.

But for hay and grass you will need another type of building, called a hay barn. Today, depending on where they will be placed, a distinction is made between internal, external or double-sided homemade hay sheds. Also, for root crops, vegetable waste, etc., the most commonly used feeders are grooved feeders. In principle, they can also be used to feed long-eared animals with concentrates and various mixed feeds.

Bunker

Feeders are designed for granulated feed and grain. You can easily make them yourself, or you can buy them in the store. They can be made from different materials. Some craftsmen recommend using plywood or a thin board, or you can use sheets of tin. It depends on what is easier for you to work with and what material is available. This design will perfectly prevent the scattering of feed and it only needs to be replenished once every few days.

  • sheets of tin;
  • rivets;
  • metal scissors;
  • mallet;
  • pliers;
  • hammer;
  • pencil;
  • roulette;
  • drill.

  • hacksaw;
  • pliers;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver (hammer);
  • MDF or grill from an old refrigerator.

Instructions

By the way, if you have a lattice on the doors that is large enough and convenient for the rabbits to get food through it, then you don’t have to make a lattice wall.

Zolotukhin's design

The feeder invented by Nikolai Ivanovich Zolotukhin is the most optimal design. It is designed for all types of feed at the same time. In addition, it is easy to clean. Animals also cannot scatter the food or pollute it. As they say, all design requirements are fully taken into account.

Video “DIY Feeder”

This video shows another example of making a building for rabbits. All the pros and cons of such an invention are described.

Every beginning rabbit breeder should not only take good care of his pets, but also provide them with comfortable cages with feeders and drinkers. What is the main thing in feeders? For what feed and what design should be made? How to properly make feeders for rabbits with your own hands: photos and drawings, videos, as well as detailed instructions can be found later in the article.

If you want to know more about eared animals, go to the section "About Rabbits"

Primary requirements

So, you have come to the conclusion that you want to make a feeder for eared animals at home. Then you need to understand a few simple requirements that the design must meet.

  1. It should be roomy enough so that you don’t have to add food very often.
  2. Easy to operate and clean.

How to do it yourself?

Making a feeder with your own hands at home is not difficult. The main thing is to decide in advance on the material and design features. Then all that’s left to do is prepare the tools and materials and bring the idea to life. But what type will be the most optimal?

Let’s say right away that an automatic bunker feeder is the best option for any type of keeping. But it is only suitable for grain and granulated feed.

But for hay and grass you will need another type of rabbit feeder, called a hay feeder. Today, depending on where they will be placed, a distinction is made between internal, external or double-sided homemade hay sheds. Also, for root crops, vegetable waste, etc., another type of feeder is most often used - groove feeders. Hopper feeders for rabbits are designed for grain and granulated feed. You can easily make them yourself, or you can buy them in the store. They can be made from different materials. Some craftsmen recommend using plywood or a thin board, or you can use sheets of tin. It all depends on what is easier for you to work with and what material is available. Tools and materials

  • sheets of tin;
  • rivets;
  • metal scissors;
  • mallet;

  • hammer;
  • pencil;
  • roulette;
  • drill.

Manufacturing

  1. We take sheets of tin and, according to the drawings, make markings using a tape measure and a pencil.

At this stage, your work is considered complete. If necessary, you can also make a lid. Also, if this is important, you can make holes in the bottom, and make the bottom itself double so that the dust can spill out. But in principle, this will do, because it’s a matter of just a minute to remove the feeder itself and shake out the dust through the top.

Grooved

A groove feeder is practically the simplest design. To make it, you don’t need any drawings; you only need to see it once, at least in a photo, to find out all the design features. In particular, it is a gutter, which is where its name comes from. There are many varieties of such simple structures. It all depends on the method of attachment and where the feeder will be placed.

Drawing of feeders and drinkers: a) grooved feeder; b) trough drinker; c) manger or hay barn

Different materials can also be used. For example, it can be made from a sheet of tin, plywood or even plastic bottles. And the simplest option would be to take a piece of plastic pipe of the required length and about 10-15 cm in diameter, and cut it lengthwise. We seal the top and bottom of one part to create a gutter. We attach legs or hooks to attach the feeder to the rabbitry. That's all the wisdom, another type of do-it-yourself feeder is ready.

For hay

Another type of very convenient feeders. As already mentioned, they can be mounted inside the rabbitry or outside. Such structures are intended for providing hay or grass. At first glance, they resemble a crèche for livestock. They are also made in different ways and from different materials. But in all cases, the side from which the rabbits will take food should be a mesh or lattice, as is the case with a manger.

Tools and materials

  • plywood sheets;
  • sheet of tin;
  • metal scissors;
  • screws or nails;
  • roulette;
  • pencil;
  • hacksaw;
  • pliers;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver (hammer);
  • MDF or grill from an old refrigerator.

Instructions

  1. According to the dimensions of our door, we mark the side walls of the hay barn (hay feeder) on plywood.
  2. Cut out the two side walls with a hacksaw. It should turn out approximately the same as shown in the photo.

3.We also cut out the grooves with which the structure will be attached to the door. We try on the blanks and, if necessary, adjust them a little more.

4. Using a block and self-tapping screws, we connect the side parts from above.

5. For greater convenience, we cut out the front part from a sheet of tin and attach it as in the photo.

Now all that remains is to attach the back part through which the rabbits must get the hay. Any grill will work for it. In our case, this is a grill from an old refrigerator. We adjust it to size and fasten it near the grooves.

Tools

  • pieces of board 25-30 mm thick;
  • sheet of tin;
  • nails;
  • grate or metal mesh;
  • hammer;
  • hacksaw;
  • pliers;
  • metal scissors;
  • roulette;
  • pencil.

Manufacturing

  1. Since the Zolotukhin feeder is mounted in the rabbitry door, its length and height dimensions will be different for each breeder. But the sides should all turn out approximately the same. We cut them with a hacksaw from pieces of board, as shown in the photo.

2. Cut out the sheet of tin to the size we need. We bend it to fit our blanks. It should look something like the photo.

3. Cut out a piece of mesh that will play the role of a kind of feed dispenser, as in hopper-type feeders.

4. We assemble everything using nails.

5. The Zolotukhin feeder is attached inside the door and is its lower part. Therefore, we prepare a slot, if there is none, and fasten the structure with nails. Only one nail is nailed on each side so that the feeder can be rotated.

That's all, another homemade Zolotukhin design is ready. We wish you success in breeding rabbits!

Video “DIY Feeder”

This video shows another example of making a rabbit feeder. All the pros and cons of such an invention are described.

In any area of the animal world, the rule “quality of life is directly proportional to quantity” applies. One of the main tasks of a rabbit farmer is to provide his animals with good-quality cages and comfortable feeders. And if the cages are simpler, sometimes you have to work hard with the feeder.

The rabbit canteen is a whole system of feeding and watering the long-eared animals. Primary requirements the same for all feeders:

  • free, convenient approach,
  • acceptable sanitary condition,
  • quality materials,
  • suitable sizes,
  • clean and dry floor near the dining room,
  • convenient and durable fastening system,
  • Convenient place for a feeder.

Nuances that you may encounter when making or purchasing it:

  1. Being undersized can lead to malnutrition. Or you will have to constantly add food. And this requires more time for care.
  2. Poor quality materials can harm the animal's skin.
  3. REMEMBER! Rabbits try everything in the world. And it can't just be food. You'll be surprised how easily wood or harmful plastic wears down!
  4. Food or water with particles of feces, urine, sawdust or straw are a source of infections and pathogenic bacteria.
  5. In addition, the ideal container should contain the daily amount of feed.

Consider the technical features of the mechanism. You must be able to open and close the feeder from your side to fill it, It’s easy to remove or take it out of the cage to wash, and just as easy to put it back in.

Feeders and drinkers are usually located inside the cage. A manger for hay and grass is hung outside. The cell itself is then obtained in the form of a block.

The organization of a hare kitchen should also take into account the characteristics of the animals.

The size of the feeder depends on the number of individuals in the cage, on average per individual it is 50 * 100 millimeters. The drinking bowl reservoir usually takes no more than one and a half liters; the bowl itself for one rabbit should be from 30 to 40 mm long.

Kinds

In the photo: 1 - groove feeder; 2 - hay barn (or nursery), 3 - drinking bowl; 4 - queen cell; 5 - bunker feeder

If we take into account that each animal must have its own source of balanced, varied nutrition and clean drinking water, then in each cage we install:

  • drinking bowl, or better yet 2 for each rabbit “apartment”,
  • manger for grass and hay,
  • feeder for roughage,
  • feeder for succulent food,
  • feeder for combined feed.
When organizing your feeder, remember that rabbits are not the neatest animals. It is advisable to make an additional compartment for food waste

By type they are also divided into:

  • bunker
  • cup-shaped
  • grooved

By type they are:

  • movable
  • motionless

The first ones are installed inside the cage and can be easily moved. The second ones are firmly attached to the wall.

How to make a feeder with your own hands, taking into account its features?

The best instructions for the manual are questions from those who have ever made a rabbit canteen or are currently in the process of working.

Almost anyone who has ever used a hammer can make a simple feeder with their own hands. The base is made of wood. A metal profile is suitable for upholstery.

Why is it better to use metal?

Yes, all because of the notorious habit of rabbits to chew everything in the world.

We calculate and measure by size:

  • length 400 mm,
  • width 40 mm,
  • depth 40 mm.

Why does the feeder have to be narrow?

This design will not allow rabbits to get into the food and spoil it with dirty paws. With older animals this factor can be missed.

It is better to solder rods to the edges of the profile (with a diameter of 5 millimeters!) This will prevent the rabbits from scooping out food from them.

Optimal height

Experts say that the height should be no lower than 7–10 centimeters from the floor of the cage.

What is the benefit of a combination feeder?

Firstly, it can be used in a cage even with small rabbits. It is simple, convenient and understandable to animals. Secondly, you can put all types of feed in it. And each rabbit will be able to choose a dish to their taste.

Thirdly, a feeder is more suitable for individual cages, since you can put all types of rabbit food in it. Juicy, roughage and combined feed. This design will consist of two compartments:

  • the top one is the feeder itself
  • the lower one is a trough-shaped nursery, concentrated feed is poured into it

It is better to assemble the feeder with your own hands so that, if necessary, you can fill it without opening the cage door. It turns out you need access from outside.

Materials

Taking into account the preferences of rodents, materials must be environmentally friendly and durable. Typically, wooden walls are lined with galvanized or tin sheets.

For the hay barn you will also need netting and beams.

Less often, rabbit breeders choose plastic.

Nursery feeder

Basic diet
– hay, with such feeding, is always in abundance. It is dry and clean, which also reduces the risk of intestinal infections.

The main rule in making it yourself is proportions. Be sure to measure the light side of the cage as this is where the manger is attached. They can be either triangular or square. Can be attached externally or installed directly in the cage.

The most popular are V-shaped nurseries. If you learn how to make them yourself, then there should be no problems with other forms.

So, for work we need:

  • plywood;
  • hacksaw or saw;
  • nails or screws, whichever is more convenient for you,
  • wire,
  • screwdriver or hammer,
  • wire cutters.

First of all, we make a drawing. You can take a ready-made drawing from the Internet, just figure out whether it will cover the entire “sunny” side of the cage.

  1. We cut out the side walls from a sheet of plywood. It should be a right triangle with one acute angle. This design will seem to push the hay towards the ears.
  2. Now it's time for the central part. It's exactly a rectangle.
  3. Using self-tapping screws we fasten all three parts.
  4. We will need wire to attach it to the cage lattice.

There is a version of a double-sided sennik. Its advantages are that the feeder serves as an additional partition between rabbit apartments. Then the progress of work will be slightly different.

Materials:

  • 5 wooden planks;
  • net;
  • wire cutters;
  • nails;
  • hammer.

Manufacturing stages:

  1. Take a board or timber (10-15 cm wide). This is the basis of the design.
  2. From it you will need to make 4 parts for the side walls (40 cm long) and 3 parts for the top and base (all 50 cm each).
  3. We cut 2 rectangles measuring 40*30 cm from the mesh. In the future, these will be the walls through which the animals will feed.
  4. We will make the letter “P” from two short and one long beams. We connect the structure with nails or self-tapping screws.
  5. We make the second letter “P” in the same way.
  6. We connect the two resulting parts at an angle of 45 degrees so that on the side we get the Latin letter “V”, or a tick.
  7. We attach nets to all the walls of the nursery.
  8. Installing our work of art in a cage.

Below is a drawing of a nursery feeder.

This feeder should not reach the ceiling. Otherwise, you will not be able to add grass or hay to it.

Pros of using a nursery:

  • clean, dry food,
  • convenience for rabbits and for you,
  • simplicity of design, and therefore of repair.
Some craftsmen adapt a ready-made bird cage into a nursery. It just needs to be firmly attached to the wall.

Cup

Its primitive design attracts rabbit breeders most of all. But it’s not that simple; it also has serious drawbacks.

It comes in two types:

  • metal (even a simple can!),
  • ceramic (plate or bowl).

This container is suitable for granular feed, grains and root vegetables. Sometimes it is used as a drinking bowl.

And now about the cons.

  • It’s easy to knock over, which means you’ll end up hungry!
  • It is inconvenient to pour food into such “dishes”.
  • There's no way you can fit a lot of food here.
  • An animal can trample in its own meal.
  • It is difficult to keep track of the cleanliness of such a feeder.

Therefore, experts advise using this type of feeder only as a temporary measure.

Bunker

This type is more suitable for bulk feed. In other words, it is a box with a trough and a net at the bottom. The box itself inside is designed to limit the supply of food as it is eaten. So the excess will never wake up by.

It is made of wood, plywood and covered with tin. You can make the entire structure only from tin, this will significantly extend its service life.

If you are making the entire feeder wooden, then at least the bottom side should be metal. Otherwise, rodents will turn it into sawdust faster than you think.

Necessary tools

  • tin sheets;
  • rivets;
  • metal scissors;
  • mallet;
  • pliers;
  • hammer;
  • pencil;
  • roulette;
  • drill.

Step-by-step instruction

1. Mark the iron sheets according to the drawings.

2. We cut it out.

3. Bend the blanks according to the markings.

4. Mark where to make holes for the rivets.

5. Using a drill, we make these holes.

6. We connect the structure using rivets.

7. Flatten the sharp coals a little so that the animals do not cut themselves.

Advantages

  • isolation of feed from garbage,
  • automation of portions,
  • feed saving,
  • ease of use and cleaning.

Flaws

  • expensive materials,
  • lack of tools.

Grooved

It is considered the most universal of all existing ones.
Equally good for hay, grain and root crops.

Materials for it are chosen among metals and/or wood. It is suitable for group cells.

On the plus side– a simple design for rabbits and their owners. Four walls and a bottom - that’s the whole feeder (see drawing). A plastic or metal pipe will also work. Just cut lengthwise and seal the walls. Can easily be used as a drinking bowl.

Which length do you prefer? On average, for several animals you need to take from 50 to 100 cm.

If you prefer, the feeder can be installed inside the cage or, using additional fasteners, outside.

If it is on the floor, then rabbits can get their paws into it or scatter food around the cage. It is better to secure the bunker feeder well to the wall. This is the most optimal and safest way.

Maklyakov's feeder

The famous Russian farmer Evgeny Maklyakov developed and proposed his own version of a bunker feeder made of galvanized iron.

It is called “Bunker feeder Maklyak-1”. For free download all drawings possible at the address. http://maclyak.ru/chertezhi-i-shemy/bunkernaya-kom…

From a plastic bottle

Plastic bottle - ideal for making a hopper feeder. For this we need:

  • plastic bottle with a volume of 1.5-2 liters (necessarily with a lid!),
  • scissors.
  • wire for fastening the structure.

So, exactly the same as with the pipe. Cut a hole along the bottle. Size 20*10 cm. And the feeder is ready! All that remains is to attach it to the wall and pour in the food.

Many people are afraid to experiment with DIY and prefer to buy everything ready-made. But the interesting thing about animal husbandry is that every day you discover something new for yourself, you comprehend such exact sciences that you had never even thought of. And useful work makes you love your job even more and devote yourself entirely to it.

When making feeders, put yourself in the rabbit's shoes. Remember the words of academician Igor Mikhailov that every time a rabbit meets you, it feels the same as you would feel when you see a tiger or a crocodile. And remember: in order for the long-eared animals to serve you and your household, make at least a little effort for their comfortable living.

When choosing a feeder, first of all, evaluate its convenience, all its advantages and disadvantages, as well as its structural strength, quality of materials, and durability. Often, only a hand-made item can satisfy all the wishes and tastes of the farmer.

Feeders for rabbits can be classified according to two criteria: design features and the material from which the product is made. The variety of devices allows every rabbit breeder to find the best option for himself. A farmer can purchase a factory feeder or, using his experience, make a convenient design himself. A DIY rabbit feeder is always more convenient and practical. This article describes the most common types of feeders. There is also information on how to make your own rabbit feeder.

Ceramic bowls

You can purchase ready-made ceramic vessels in special stores. This feeder is the choice of aesthetes, as they look beautiful and neat. The bowl has fastenings for fixing on the cage wall.

Animals often turn over such a structure and scatter the contents, causing the breeder additional troubles in replacing food and cleaning.

Nursery

The device optimizes the feeding of rabbits with green food and is also suitable for hay. If desired, the product is either attached to the wall of the pen or placed inside it. The manger is designed in such a way that the rabbits do not have the opportunity to scatter grass on the floor. This saves room space and the owner’s energy on cleaning the cage. The product is usually made of wood and equipped with a grill.

When manufacturing and installing nurseries, it is necessary to ensure access to food for all animals.

Trough feeders

This is a universal design for any type of food, which is not difficult to make. Several individuals can approach the product at the same time. Therefore, grooved feeders are used both in individual cages and in joint cages. Metal or plastic are suitable for their manufacture.

Hopper feeders

Hopper feeders for rabbits are widely used among rabbit breeders, as they have many advantages:

  • Suitable for both bulk and granular feed.
  • The feed is automatically dosed.
  • The design prevents rabbits from scattering and trampling food.
  • It is enough to replenish supplies once a week.
  • Suitable for use with large numbers of livestock.

Cup feeders

Cup feeders are also used for watering animals. Ready-made dishes come in plastic and metal. To make a rabbit feeder with your own hands, you can use a tin can, a plastic water pipe, clay and concrete. Suitable for bulk or granular feed.

Making various designs with your own hands

Hopper type feeders

First option

Any breeder who has a drill, a device for cutting metal and a tin can in his arsenal can make a feeder for rabbits with his own hands.

Operating procedure:

  1. Clean the jar and cut it lengthwise, leaving 7 cm from the bottom.
  2. You will get two halves, one of which must be cut off.
  3. The cut part must be installed in the middle of the structure at the cut site, attaching it to the back.
  4. Holes for food are drilled in the bottom.
  5. Sharp edges must be processed and bent to avoid injury.
  6. Then you need to fix the feeder by attaching it to the cage with screws.
  7. The feed is poured into the narrow part of the product, from where it will be dosed into the bowl.

Second option

A sheet of galvanized iron can be used to make a bunker feeder for rabbits of any size. Before preparing materials, it is better to make a design drawing or use ready-made drawings from the Internet.

Then, in accordance with the required dimensions, the details of the future feeder are prepared:

  1. Front end;
  2. Back wall;
  3. Sides;
  4. Cover (if kept outdoors);
  5. Pallet;
  6. Restrictors to prevent feed spillage.

The resulting structural elements are cut and bent, sharp edges are processed.

Assembly begins with the pallet and stops, after which the back and side walls, and then the front part, are attached to them using screws.

Making a trough feeder

Homemade trough-shaped feeders can be made from various available materials: wood, plastic, metal. The product can be made from a plastic bottle, profile or sewer pipe. This design is convenient for feeding vegetables and tops.

In order to adapt the pipe (optimal diameter 15 cm), it is necessary to cut it in half and attach the sides and hooks.

Wooden rabbit feeders

Option one

You can make feeders from wood. The first version of a wooden feeder is a simple design of eight edged boards 25 mm thick.

Four boards will be used to make the bottom, to which 4 walls are attached using self-tapping screws. The assembled product should be square in shape with sides of 40-50 cm. This feeder is suitable for hay and solid food.

Option two

The second option is a bunker or nursery type feeder, which are made according to the same principle.

A simple feeder made from a plastic bottle

This feeder is suitable for grain feed; it must be refilled daily. The main advantage of this design is the minimal time and material costs. You will need a plastic bottle, a marker and a painting knife.

Using a marker, markings are made along which the hole is cut. The rabbit's head should fit freely through this hole.

The product is suitable for feeding young rabbits, and it can also serve as a temporary source of food.

A plastic bottle is also suitable for making a drinking bowl for rabbits with your own hands.

Zolotukhin's feeder

The invention of N. Zolotukhin is preferred by most rabbit breeders. This popularity is due to the following advantages of the design:

  • Ease of manufacture.
  • Ease of maintenance.
  • Versatility - it is possible to supply both large feed and grain.
  • Practicality – the feed is protected from scattering and contamination.
  • Saving space in the pen due to the fact that the product is attached externally.

To make a feeder you will need boards 2.5 mm thick, galvanized and mesh.

Operating procedure:

  1. Two sides 40 cm long are cut out of the boards, in which a recess is made to fix the mesh.

  3. The resulting parts are attached to each other.
  4. A board is attached in place of the front wall.
  5. A mesh limiter is attached to the sides.
  6. The resulting product is hung on the door and secured with two nails, so that the feeder rotates easily.
